– Una lettera di scuse

Pubblichiamo questa foto (UN Climate Change Conference COP25) a commento della Lettera di scuse appena spedita a Greta Thunberg a nome di tutti/e coloro che non condividono la scelta del Carnevale di Fano 2020.

Il carro così come è stato realizzato, peggiorativo anche rispetto al bozzetto presentato al concorso.

Dear Greta,
in our city (Fano, Italy) a great traditional parade is held every year for Carnival, with allegorical floats many meters high and the participation of tens of thousands of people from all over Italy.
Usually the floats, modeled by artists on themes of political satire, portray characters from politics or entertainment, or focus on current issues. This year the chosen theme is the defense of the environment but in the parade there will be no caricatures of celebrities and current events, except for a float that represents you inside a box as “Barbie Greta”.
As a matter of fact, the description made initially by the artist of this work alluded to the fact that you are a cultural product (?), or something like that.
We, citizens of Fano, think that it is a tasteless choice which bears prejudices against you. So, whatever one’s views, we believe in the importance of the message you have spread and in your autonomy of thought, therefore
we apologize on behalf of all those who would have preferred a more courageous and less ambiguous choice!
We offer you our thanks for what you do and we hope that in the future the Carnival will have the courage to choose those responsible for bad environmental policy choices as an object of satire.
“Unite behind the science” … and learn to joke tastefully.
